Tara Meekma
Lone Tree City Council, District 2
About Tara Meekma
Thank you, Lone Tree.
I'm honored to serve the residents of Lone Tree as your District 2 City Councilmember.

This campaign began with a simple belief: the best decisions are made when residents have a seat at the table. Throughout the campaign, I had the privilege of meeting neighbors from every corner of our community, listening to your ideas, concerns, and hopes for Lone Tree's future. Those conversations continue to shape how I approach public service today.
While the campaign has ended, my commitment to listening, being accessible, and making thoughtful decisions is just beginning.
A Little About Me
Lone Tree has been home to my family for many years. My husband, Michael, and I are raising our daughter, Darby, here, and our adult son, Ben, also calls Lone Tree home. Like so many of our neighbors, we chose Lone Tree because of its outstanding quality of life, beautiful parks and trails, excellent schools, and strong sense of community.

Professionally, I've spent more than a decade as a Realtor serving families throughout the Denver metro area. Every day, I help people make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. That experience has given me a deep appreciation for responsible growth, thoughtful planning, housing issues, property rights, and the importance of protecting the long-term value of our neighborhoods.
Community Leadership
Before joining City Council, I was actively involved in community advocacy and local government. Whether serving on boards, volunteering in our schools, coaching youth sports, or working alongside neighbors on issues affecting our city, I've always believed that good communities don't happen by accident—they're built by engaged residents who are willing to step forward.
My decision to run for City Council came from that same belief: that thoughtful leadership, respectful dialogue, and careful planning are essential to preserving what makes Lone Tree such a special place to live.
My Priorities
As your City Councilmember, I'll continue focusing on:
-
Preserving Lone Tree's exceptional quality of life
-
Planning responsibly for future growth
-
Maintaining fiscal responsibility
-
Supporting public safety
-
Investing in parks, trails, and community amenities
-
Listening to residents before making decisions
-
Ensuring local government remains transparent and accessible
Beyond City Hall
When I'm not working or attending City Council meetings, you'll usually find me spending time with my family, traveling, exploring Colorado's trails, helping my daughter on the softball and scocer field, or enjoying everything that makes Lone Tree such a wonderful place to call home.
Let's Stay Connected
City Council works best when residents stay engaged. Whether you have a question, concern, or simply want to share an idea, I'd love to hear from you. Please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thank you again for the opportunity to serve our community.
— Tara
